The Belief
We believe development and nature are not opponents. They have simply been badly introduced.
A great deal of building begins with erasure - the site is cleared, levelled, made blank, and only then is architecture allowed to begin. Something is lost in that sequence that no amount of landscaping returns. The memory of the ground. The way water once found its path. The trees that measured the years.
We begin differently. We treat the land as the first author of the design. Its slope, its light, its water and its shade are not obstacles to be overcome but instructions to be followed. When architecture proceeds this way, it does not need to shout. It settles. It belongs.
This is not nostalgia, and it is not decoration. It is a discipline - one that asks more of us, costs more patience, and produces places that are quieter, healthier and more lasting than the alternative.

Three Convictions
What we hold to be true.
Nature is the client we never bill.
Every site has an ecology that was there first. We design so that it remains - improved, if we can manage it, and never diminished.
Restraint is a form of respect.
The most generous thing architecture can do is know when to stop. We measure success by what we chose not to build.
Ethics comes before everything.
If a decision is profitable but not honest, it is not a decision we make. This is the one line we do not move.
